Introducing Khuzestan province

A province in the southwest of Iran, which is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf and is considered the center of Iran's oil and gas production. The area of Khuzestan province is 64057 square kilometers and it is considered as the fifth most populated province of Iran. Shahrahawaz is the capital of Khuzestan province. Historically, Khuzestan is considered to be the oldest region of the Iranian plateau, where the history of human habitation dates back to 2700 years before Christ and the formation of the Elam civilization in the third millennium before Christ. Khuzestan borders Lorestan province from the north, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces from the northeast and Bakhtiari from the northwest, Ilam province from the northwest, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad provinces from the east and southeast, Bushehr province and the Persian Gulf from the south, and Iraq from the west.
